Dame Naila Zafar (Chair)

Date of Appointment: 19 May 2017

Dame Naila Zafar is a former Headteacher of Copthorne Primary School, rated outstanding by Ofsted, and has worked as Executive Headteacher across a number of Bradford schools. She is an Ofsted inspector, with experience of supporting the transformation of vulnerable schools through IEB membership. Dame Naila’s skills and expertise include educational leadership and management, community relations, international perspectives on education and EAL.

Gillian Holland

Gillian Holland is the Chief Executive Officer of Bronte Academy Trust based in the Worth Valley.

Adeeba Malik CBE

Date of appointment: 19 January 2018

Adeeba Malik is the Deputy Chief Executive Officer of QED, where she manages a number of social, educational and economic projects. Adeeba has won many accolades for her work, including the Yorkshire Young Achiever Award, Yorkshire Woman of Achievement Award, Yorkshire Forward Ladies Award, Pakistan and India Friendship Award, and the Lloyds TSB Jewel Award. In 2004 she was awarded the MBE (Member of the British Empire) for her services to ethnic minorities and businesses. In 2015 she was awarded the CBE (Commander of the British Empire) for her services to interfaith and community cohesion.

William Nabarro (Chair)

Date of appointment: 23 May 2017

William was a city merchant banker advising companies and other organisations on strategy. For 9 years he was a Non-Executive Director of ICAP plc, one of the World’s largest financial broking groups. He has undertaken various roles in public sector bodies and served as member of Council and then Treasurer of the University of Leeds. In 2001 he joined Jardine Lloyd Thompson PLC (JLT), an international insurance broking group, serving as Group Commercial Director. He re-joined JLT in 2015 and is now Senior Adviser to the Group CEO, with specific responsibility for Group strategy.

Between 2010 and 2015, William first trained as a secondary school teacher and then taught English at schools in Bradford and Skipton.

Gareth Davies

Irwin Robert Freeth

Date of appointment: 12th December 2018

Rob is the former Headteacher of Westminster C of E Primary School, Bradford which he retired from in 2016. He joined in 2005 successfully taking it out of Fresh Start and through successive good inspection outcomes as it expanded to become a large 3 form entry school. Prior to this he was Headteacher of schools in Calderdale and Hampshire and spent 14 years in international education as an Education Officer in Brunei and as a Headteacher in Qatar and Uganda.

Diane Hadwen

Date of appointment: 12th December 2018

Diane currently works as Heritage Education Officer with responsibility for the HLF funded WW1 Bells Project, Bradford Cathedral, and is an Associate Lecturer and Visiting Tutor with Manchester Metropolitan University. Diane has overseen the running of a three year BA Hons (QTS) programme, a PGCE programme, and four School Direct Programmes.

Louis Harvey

Date of appointment: 29th November 2018

Louis is an experienced manager with over 10 years leadership experience working for the Environment Agency. His key skills include managing finance, contracts, HR and change management. Louis has a number of years experience as a Chair of Governors within a local primary school and is a current member of the North and West Yorkshire Magistrates Advisory Committee.

Yaseen Mohammed

Date of appointment: 12 December 2018

Yaseen established YProperty Ltd in 2013 as a newly formed development and regeneration consultancy based in Yorkshire. Yaseen is a qualified Chartered Surveyor, and his experience includes roles in two Regional Development Agencies, Birmingham City Council and Bradford Council, and Bradford’s Regeneration Company.
